‘Quality’… Nathan Redmond says £25m Tottenham man is actually better than Erling Haaland

Tottenham Hotspur’s Yves Bissouma has been named as the best player in the Premier League by Nathan Redmond.

The Premier League is packed full of incredible talents. The likes of Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Virgil van Dijk are some of the best footballers in the world today.

However, according to Redmond, the best player in the league this year has been Bissouma.

The £25m Tottenham star has really hit his stride in north London this season, and it’s fair to say that Redmond has been mightily impressed by what he’s seen so far this term.

Bissouma the best in the league

Redmond shared his verdict on the Mali international.

“Who is the best player in the league for you?” Redmond was asked.

“Do you know who I’ve liked, Bissouma. I’ve really really enjoyed watching Bissouma this year, he had a difficult year last year, but he’s come on leaps and bounds, since joining from Brighton, he’s a quality player but you know, from the stuff I’ve seen this year he’s been top draw,” Redmond said.

Not quite

We absolutely love Bissouma as a player and when he’s on his game he is unplayable.

However, we can’t quite agree with this idea that he’s the best player in the league.

Yes, he’s been brilliant for Spurs, but he’s also been wildly inconsistent at times.

During that run of five consecutive losses a few weeks ago Bissouma was utterly atrocious, and you can’t have runs like that if you want to be considered the best player in the division.

The likes of Haaland, Salah, van Dijk and Rodri all hit higher highs than Bissouma on a more consistent basis, and, for that reason, he’s not a Player of the Year contender for us.

Bissouma is certainly one of the most entertaining players in England right now, but we’re not sure he’s the very best player the Premier League has to offer.
