‘Quality’, ’Don’t sleep on him’: Some Aston Villa fans react to links with £8m left-footer
Aston Villa are being linked with Watford midfielder Will Hughes – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have given a positive response to the transfer speculation.
The Athletic reports that Villa, along with several Premier League rivals, are keeping a close eye on the 26-year-old.
Hughes is reportedly in discussions over a new deal at Vicarage Road. However, if terms can’t be agreed his future would be unclear with just one year remaining on his contract.
The £8million left-footer is part of a Watford side that earned automatic promotion from the Championship this season.
He’s has so much technical ability to shine in the central midfield position.
Firstly, he offers great balance in the centre of the park with a mix between offensive and defensively quality. Secondly, he’s composed on the ball and has previous Premier League experience. Finally, he helped guide Watford to automatic promotion from the Championship.
Will Hughes has Aston Villa squad player written all over him
A selection of Villa supporters on social media feel Hughes would compliment the squad nicely.
They’ve already snapped up Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City this summer, so it shows you can find real gems from those teams below.
Aged 26, Hughes should still have his peak ahead of him, and he could help add competition for Dean Smith’s squad.
It was a really encouraging 2020/21 campaign from the Midlands club, but perhaps a lack of squad depth cost them.
If they are to fulfil an aim of qualifying for the European positions, they need to fill out the squad.
