‘Quality’: Ben White was really impressed with what £23m Arsenal man did vs Fulham yesterday

Arsenal defender Ben White has told Viaplay Fotball that he was really impressed with what Gabriel Magalhaes did against Fulham yesterday. 

Gabriel made a costly mistake at the start of the second half as he gave the ball away in his own box.

The Brazilian defender was dispossessed by Aleksandr Mitrovic and the Fulham striker put his side 1-0 up at the Emirates.

But Gabriel pleased his boss Mikel Arteta as he went on to make up for his error as he scored a late winner for the Gunners.

And White praised his teammate’s mentality following the comeback win against the Cottagers. 

White impressed with Gabriel

Speaking to Viaplay Fotball, White applauded Gabriel for making up for his error to secure an important three points for Arsenal. 

“It just shows the quality and the mentality of him,” he said.

“A little mistake and the reaction he showed to get us the win and help his team to get the three points.”

The England international was also asked about how he and his teammates dealt with the threat of Mitrovic.

He added: “Yeah it’s tough against a big man [Mitrovic]. It’s always hard and it makes it difficult for us and I think the two centre-halves [William Saliba and Gabriel] today did amazing against him.” 

Gabriel has been brilliant for the Gunners since joining from Ligue 1 outfit Lille for £23.1 million two summers ago (BBC). 

Despite the error for the goal yesterday, the defender has continued his superb form into this season.

The Brazilian international has formed a solid partnership with William Saliba after playing next to White last season.

Arteta’s men have now won all four of their opening Premier League fixtures and sit top of the league.

The Arsenal defence has been a key reason for the fast start and Arteta will be delighted to see Gabriel making up for his error earlier in the half.

White has been moved out to right-back and the Gunners have looked solid defensively in their opening fixtures.
