John McGinn played the full game in a dramatic 3-3 draw with Preston North End on Tuesday night – and some Aston Villa fans on Twitter praised the midfielder for his performance.

The Midlands giants earned just a point at home in the league in an affair that will be remembered for a supporter throwing a cabbage at under-pressure manager Steve Bruce.

The drama continued on the pitch too, as Glenn Whelan missed a 97th minute penalty for Villa to snatch all three points and frustrations around the club continue to grow.

Villa took a two-goal lead in the first-half courtesy of goals from Jonathan Kodjia and Tammy Abraham, with the latter’s coming after some determined work by McGinn on the flank.

But visitors Preston turned the game on its head by scoring three times after James Chester’s red card.

Yannick Bolasie’s 91st minute goal turned out to be a vital equaliser, but supporters went away frustrated with a late penalty miss.

Amid the chaos of a Championship fixture, 23-year-old summer signing McGinn once again showed his quality in the midfield and earned some rave reviews on social media from supporters.

The central midfielder has became an instant favourite at Villa due to his quality in possession and immense work-rate.
