QPR flop Abdenasser El Khayati scores four goals in 48 minutes

Not many QPR fans will have overly positive memories of former player Abdenasser El Khayati. The Dutch forward had thrived for Kozakken Boys in the Netherlands. That form saw Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink bring him to the UK when at Burton Albion. When Hasselbaink jumped shop to Loftus Road, he brought his countryman over as well.

But in one-and-half seasons at QPR the forward managed just one goal in 25 games. He eventually left for ADO Den Haag on loan in the January of 2017. After good form with his new club, he joined permanently and scored 11 goals in 35 games last season.

Owing to his lack of form at QPR, fans at Loftus Road may be surprised to hear what El Khayati managed to achieve this weekend.

ADO Den Haag defeated Excelsior 4-2 in Rotterdam this weekend. For El Khayati it was certainly a memorable day at the office, as he scored all four of ADO’s goals.

He netted his first from the penalty spot in the 21st minute and his fourth came after 69. All in all, it took him just 48 minutes to score four goals. Considering that in 613 minutes of Championship football with QPR he scored just one goal, that is fairly impressive.

It takes El Khayati’s tally to the season to an impressive six goals in four games played. QPR have managed just three in the league this season as a team.

Maybe the club was too hasty in letting the 29-year-old go.
