Sunderland have signed Joel Lynch on a free transfer. The club’s official website has announced the signing of Lynch on a one-year deal following his Queens Park Rangers exit.
Lynch left QPR at the end of last season and has been looking for a new club. After a long search for a new team, Lynch has finally found a new home on Wearside. He joins Jack Ross for the upcoming promotion bid.
Sunderland fell just short of promotion last year, losing in the play-off final against Charlton Athletic. Ross has strengthened his squad with six new signings, including Lynch. The experienced defender joins Jordan Willis, Alim Ozturk, Tom Flanagan and Jack Baldwin in central defence.
But QPR fans have hijacked Sunderland’s Twitter page with warning messages for the Black Cats. Plenty of Hoops supporters were critical of the 31-year-old’s defensive ability, while others believe that he would be a good player at League One level.
Here are some tweets from QPR fans after Lynch was officially unveiled as Sunderland’s latest signing.
God help ya.

Before the end of the season he will be personally responsible for at least 4 goals conceded born out of mistakes and mishaps. Dreadful lump of a defender.
