Tottenham are reportedly rivalling a number of Premier League clubs to sign Queens Park Rangers playmaker Eberechi Eze ahead of the summer window – and QPR coach Neil Banfield has told WLS what Tottenham need to do to sign Eze.
The 21-year-old has been in stunning form for Mark Warburton’s side this season. He has had a hand in 20 goals during his 39 appearances, scoring 12 himself and laying on eight assists – alerting a handful of Premier League sides.
The Sun claim Tottenham are leading the race to sign Eze, but face competition from Crystal Palace and Sheffield United. It is believed a fee of £20million will be enough to land the England Under-21 international this summer.
Asked about Eze’s future, first-team coach Banfield was honest in stating that offers of at least £20million would see Eze leave Loftus Road in the summer and move across London to Spurs – claiming it is a “fact of life” that a big offer will be accepted.
“The real world is that if a club comes in now with loads of money then those lads have got to go. It’s just a fact of life,” Banfield said. “If the offers come in of £20m and £20m-plus, I don’t think there would be many clubs that could turn that down.”

TBR’s view – Is Eze worth such a fee?
Certainly, Eze already has enormous experience for a player of his age – clocking up more than 100 appearances for QPR. He is outshining Tottenham loanees Jack Clarke and Luke Amos during the duo’s loan spells from Spurs.
Able to play out wide or in the 10 role, Eze’s creativity and cutting edge in the final third is special. For a side like QPR, who are sitting in the second half of the Championship table, his goalscoring from midfield is excellent.
Spending £20million on Eze would be excellent business.
