Aston Villa are making a late push to sign Middlesbrough midfielder, Morgan Rogers, ahead of Thursday’s deadline.
Rogers has emerged as one of the standout young players in the Championship and Villa are keen to sign him before the deadline passes.
Bids have gone in over the weekend from Villa but so far, Middlesbrough have held firm in their stance.
However, according to TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Villa are not giving up and have now made another bid of around £15m for Rogers.
Aston Villa bid again for Morgan Rogers
Speaking on TalkSPORT this morning, Crook provided an update on the situation with Rogers and suggested Villa have now made a third, bigger bid.
“Elsewhere, Aston Villa are pushing again to sign Middlesbrough winger Morgan Rogers. TalkSPORT understands they’ve submitted a third increased offer of £15m for Rogers who is keen to make the move to the club he supported as a child,” Crook said.
Rogers is thought to be keen on making the move and Villa are looking to convince Middlesbrough to do business for the youngster.
The 21-year-old has been flying under Michael Carrick, with Carrick himself lauding Rogers’ performances.
“He creates, he’s dangerous. He’s a huge talent. He’s fantastic to work with, he wants to learn and get better all the time and is desperate to give what he can for the team, which is brilliant. He’s got a terrific attitude for the game and is showing his quality,” Carrick said on Rogers.
“He’s scored some big goals for us, big goals in the cup and the goal against Birmingham here. He’s scored some big goals. He’s very creative. You can see he’s growing here, he’s at home here and belongs here and you can see him growing all the time.
Villa have done business with Boro over the years and have a good relationship with them in the main.
There is hope, then, that a deal for Rogers will get done.
