A number of Liverpool fans have urged the Reds to snap up Patson Daka after he impressed in Tuesday’s pre-season friendly against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Liverpool, fresh from a 3-0 win over Stuttgart at the weekend, took on Red Bull Salzburg in Austria but found themselves with a mountain to climb thanks to Daka’s efforts.

The 21-year-old opened the scoring after just two minutes, pouncing after Fabinho’s misplaced pass and going on to fire past Alisson Becker.

Daka then doubled his side’s lead 10 minutes later after more poor defending, Joe Gomez at fault in giving the ball away down the right.

Liverpool, who also had to contend with Virgil van Dijk picking up a knock, improved as the game went on and halved the deficit through Rhian Brewster on 72 minutes.

James Milner and Takumi Minamino combined to set up the 20-year-old, who rifled a powerful finish into the roof of the net.

Brewster then got his second with nine minutes to go, a chip from outside the area into the empty goal after the goalkeeper had been drawn out by Curtis Jones.

While plenty of Liverpool fans discussed their own players, some were left impressed by Daka’s first-half brace and urged the Anfield side to snap him up:

Daka claimed 27 goals and 12 assists from 45 competitive club appearances last season.
