'Pure class': Some Sunderland fans laud ace who 'Messi has posters of' after pre-season display
Sunderland secured their first win of pre-season with a comfortable 2-0 win over SPL side Hearts.
Whilst Manchester City loanee Callum Doyle stole the headlines with a sensational debut performance for the League One side, Aiden McGeady was also impressive for Sunderland in Edinburgh.
The winger bagged both goals, with the former Republic of Ireland star finishing off a well-worked goal kick-started by Lynden Gooch. McGeady also scored a penalty in the opening half.

It was an impressive display from the veteran attacker. Moreover, McGeady has committed his future to Sunderland for the upcoming season by signing a new deal.
Indeed, McGeady will once again be key for Lee Johnson’s side if they are to finally escape League One.
And his performance against Hearts this weekend more than assured fans that the former Everton star is heading into the new campaign in top form.
McGeady scored four goals and register 14 assists for the Black Cats last campaign. And supporters on social media were buzzing with the Irishman’s performance against the Scottush side.
Here’s what some Sunderland fans had to say on Twitter about the forward’s display against Hearts…
