One pundit has now predicted that Ange Postecoglou will make quite a ruthless decision at Tottenham next season.
The Australian has some thinking to do after adding Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray to his squad this summer – two top talents who are capable of stepping in straight away.
However, throwing the precocious duo in immediately will require somebody to drop out, and Darren Ambrose believes Ange Postecoglou is ready to drop a big name at Tottenham…
Ange Postecoglou tipped to drop Rodrigo Bentancur at Tottenham
A story from Football London recently claimed that Spurs view Gray as a central midfielder, despite his ability to play at right-back.
That means one of Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma or Rodrigo Bentancur will need to be dropped to accommodate the 18-year-old, and Ambrose believes the latter will be sacrificed by Postecoglou.
Speaking to talkSPORT at 4:13pm on Sunday, the 40-year-old said: “I don’t think he (Bentancur) does (start for Tottenham). I don’t think he does. I think Sarr, Bissouma and Archie Gray is the three, and Bentancur, what a substitution to have as well.”

The Uruguay international made 13 Premier League starts in total last season, although that was mainly down to ligament injuries rather than Postecoglou not fancying the £100,000-a-week man.
Uruguay international could leave Spurs anyway
Even before Ambrose’s comments, there were some doubts around Bentancur’s future in N17 anyway.
A story from Sporx in Turkey claimed that Bentancur’s agent has offered him to Galatasaray, and the Uruguayan is believed to be keen on the move.
Of course, depth will be needed ahead of a return to the UEFA Europa League, especially after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg agreed to join Marseille.

However, Bentancur may not be satisfied with a mere squad role behind the likes of Gray and Sarr, so if Postecoglou does heed Ambrose’s advice, there could be a difficult conversation needed this summer.

Hopefully, the Tottenham No.30 is ready to stay and fight for his place, but with just 24 months remaining on his contract, it wouldn’t surprise us to see Spurs cash in if a decent offer arrives.
