Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech in recent days.

Dutch outlet AD claimed that Spurs had set their sights on the Morocco international.

Spurs have also managed to move some of their more high-profile fringe players on.

Now, with less than a week left until the deadline, Tottenham appear to be focusing on incomings again.

Spurs have been linked with a number of creative midfielders in recent weeks, such as Nicolo Zaniolo.

Now, Ziyech’s name is doing the rounds on the Tottenham rumour mill.

The £36million man – who Chelsea-leaning pundit Pat Nevin once described as a “joy to watch” – is also being linked with Ajax.

However, Dutch analyst Johan Derksen believes Tottenham are a more interesting prospect for the player.

“I can imagine that he prefers Tottenham, because he wants to succeed in England,” he told Vandaag Inside, relayed by Ajax Showtime and transcribed by Sport Witness.

“(Returning to Ajax is) a bit as a rejection. He would be received with applause here, that would be a warm welcome, but instinctively the boy has failed in England.”

Fellow analyst Rene Van der Gijp echoed his colleague’s statement, believing the 29-year-old will prefer Spurs if their interest is genuine.

“If you can play at Tottenham or you play against Sparta, RKC or Go Ahead, then you go there, right?” he added.
