Pundit says ‘sensational’ Man United player is not getting anywhere near enough praise

Nigel Reo Coker has suggested that one Manchester United player actually deserves a lot more credit than he has received, after his performance in their FA Cup win over Liverpool on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag’s men secured one of their most impressive and meaningful wins of his tenure. They came from behind twice to beat the Reds 4-3 at Old Trafford and book their spot in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

Alejandro Garnacho shone once again. Meanwhile, Amad Diallo bagged the winner. And Marcus Rashford and Antony will hope that their goals will help them begin to silence their doubters.

Kobbie Mainoo deserves more credit after Manchester United win

But it was also another incredibly impressive showing from Kobbie Mainoo. Mainoo has received so many plaudits since breaking into the side earlier this season.

The 18-year-old has definitely been a shining light in a frustrating campaign for the club. But perhaps he should be on the receiving end of even more plaudits.

Speaking on Football Daily, Nigel Reo Coker suggested that the teenager has been playing so much better than many even realise.

“Mainoo, for me, I think has been sensational. He deserves a lot more credit than he’s getting. And he should feel hard done by, not to actually get full-squad England recognition. Because it’s not easy to do that at a club of that magnitude and be a major part,” he said.

Many are aware just how good youngster appears to be

It is surprising to hear Reo Coker argue that Mainoo has not got enough credit. In truth, it does not feel as though the teenager has received any criticism over the last few months.

Whatever happens with ten Hag’s future over the coming months, Mainoo is one player United can build around over the next few years.

Of course, it is important that United do not ask too much of the youngster too soon in his development. And there are going to be tougher patches of form for him.

But it is frightening to see how good he is already.
