‘Been outstanding’: Kevin Campbell says only Kepa gets in a combine Arsenal and Chelsea XI right now

Chelsea take on Arsenal this weekend and Kevin Campbell has said that the Blues only have one player who’d get in a combined XI.

The former Arsenal and Everton striker was asked his opinion on who from the Chelsea side would get in his team made up of both teams.

And offering a brutally honest answer, Campbell said that only goalkeeper Kepa would get in his Arsenal and Chelsea combined XI right now.

“None, at the moment. I’ve got to say that. it is harsh but, the only one who you can say has played up to standard or scratch or above is Kepa. Kepa’s been outstanding. But I think when you look at what Arsenal have done. The numbers, where they are in the table. I don’t think any Chelsea player gets in,” Campbell said on TalkSPORT.

“I’d stick with Arsenal (even if I had to pick a team for my life tomorrow). I’m not saying Chelsea don’t have good players. Listen, when they’re on fire, probably more Chelsea players than Arsenal would get in. But they just aren’t doing it at the moment.”

Ironically, Kepa is set to miss the clash through injury. The Spanish stopper was on crutches in midweek and will now have to make way for Edouard Mendy.

TBR’s View: Arsenal and Chelsea combined XI is hard to call

In fairness to Campbell here, he is probably about right. Arsenal are doing so well that it’s hard to suggest Chelsea have anyone who is even close.

The obvious name would be Thiago Silva. The experienced defender is still a class act and would be excellent alongside William Saliba.

But even the pick of Kepa over Ramsdale can be debated. The England man has been excellent himself and on his day, is better than the Chelsea man anyway.
