Leeds United can “blow Rangers out of the water” in terms of what salary they could offer Ibrox ace and Elland Road target Ryan Kent, according to Kris Boyd.
With the Whites back in the Premier League, Marcelo Bielsa and co will be looking to bolster the team so as to hit the ground running in the top flight.
Kent, one player heavily linked with Leeds in recent days, is now in his third season at Rangers.
He initially joined on loan from Liverpool in 2018-19 and then signed for a permanent £7million last summer.

“Now he is at Glasgow Rangers and that works really well because Ryan is a fantastic football player and still very young,” Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said in January 2019.
The 23-year-old has clocked up 80 outings for the Ibrox side, scoring 16 and creating 13, and has hit the ground running this season, netting two goals from four league games.
Gers boss Steven Gerrard told BBC Sport on Friday that Leeds had contacted Rangers over Kent but said their opening bid was “strongly rejected” and sought to make it clear he is “not for sale”.
However, former Rangers ace Boyd is worried that the lure of the Premier League, not to mention their clubs’ financial muscle, could make it tough for the Scottish giants.
“When the English Premier League comes calling, it is hard to ignore,” he told the Scottish Sun. “It is where most footballers eventually want to be playing.
“There is also the small matter that Leeds can blow Rangers out of the water when it comes to wages. They will be able to offer Kent up to four times what he is earning in Scotland.
“Whether the young man has a say in his future, we will find out in the next couple of weeks.
“But with proven matchwinners in big games few and far between, his exit would have dire consequences for Rangers and Gerrard.”
TBR View:
Given Kent’s talent, experience, age, potential and versatility – he can play on the wings, attacking midfield and even as a second striker – he would be a great fit for Bielsa’s Leeds.
Earlier this week, another Gers legend – Barry Ferguson – told the Daily Record about Kent being a £20million player in the making.
With Leeds now in the Premier League, they have the potential to make him a £20million player right away.
Such a fee wouldn’t exactly be out of their budget, and likewise, Rangers might find it difficult to resist such an offer.
