'Was flying around': Pundit says Arsenal had a player who was simply everywhere against Wolves on Saturday
Gabriel Jesus might have failed to score for Arsenal against Wolves but he once again showed enough to demonstrate his worth to the club.
The Brazilian has been a game-changing signing for the Gunners. His arrival from Man City, along with other new signings, has been the catalyst to send Arsenal top of the table.
Of course, Jesus is in a mini goal scoring drought right now. Heading into the World Cup, Jesus will have hoped to be in far better goal scoring form than he is.
However, writing in his column for The Times, pundit Tony Cascarino believes Jesus is doing just fine, and might even prove more important for Arsenal and Erling Haaland is for City.
“Gabriel Jesus will not outscore Erling Haaland this season, but he may be a better team player. The Brazil man was flying around at Wolves on Saturday, proving that he is making an impact even though he is not scoring,” Cascarino wrote for The Times.
“As good as Mikel Arteta has been tactically, his link to Manchester City may be his most valuable asset. City sold Arsenal Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jesus, who have been excellent because the manager knows how they tick. By maximising their ability, Arteta has got two players on the cheap.”
TBR’s View: Jesus fitness is key to Arsenal winning
At the moment, you’d have to assume if Gabriel Jesus went down with an injury then Arsenal would suffer.
Sure, the goals aren’t quite there right now. But he is playing so well and creating so much space for others that he is essential for this Gunners team.
Few signings have made an impact quite like Gabriel Jesus has at Arsenal. The comment here about Haaland is an interesting one really. In the end, it might well prove that Jesus leaving City is what drives Arsenal to the title.
