'Influential': Sky Sports pundit says Arsenal have a player who has completely transformed the dressing room

Sky Sports’ Sue Smith has been singing the praises of Arsenal this morning and believes Gabriel Jesus is proving instrumental.

Jesus hasn’t scored for 11 games now but Arsenal remain top of the table. Part of that is because the Brazilian has been leading the line so well. He drags defenders around, and that’s led to the likes of Martin Odegaard and Gabi Martinelli being able to find the net more regularly.

And speaking on Sky this morning, Smith believes Arsenal are so good to watch, with Jesus’ influence on proceedings obvious.

“At this moment in time, Arsenal have been the most consistent side. In terms of getting results, putting in performances. They’re a team you want to turn the tele on and watch. They’re brilliant,” Smith said.

“Jesus might not be scoring but look how influential he is. And I think bringing him in and Zinchenko to a degree, it’s that winning mentality. They’re used to winning and challenging for things and that also comes into the dressing room then and they can pass on their experience.”

Jesus was seen as the marquee signing for Arsenal in the summer. Along with Zinchenko, his arrival was lauded and so far, it’s proving a fine piece of business by the Gunners.

TBR’s View: Gabriel Jesus influence unquestionable at Arsenal

It would be a remarkable story if Jesus left City to become the main man at Arsenal and then led the Gunners to success over Pep’s side. But right now, it could happen.

Five points clear is not to be sniffed at. Arsenal just keep on winning games and while ever they keep their star men, like Jesus, fit and ready, they’ll be challenging.

The World Cup has come at a bad time really for Arsenal. All eyes, then, will be on Gabriel Jesus can indeed stay fit and healthy throughout the competition.
