Pundit says 23-year-old Tottenham player really shocked him after what he did vs Manchester United

Tottenham are having to field something of a makeshift starting XI at the moment.

Spurs are missing a number of players due to injury and international commitments, and that means that a number of fringe players at Spurs are getting a shot now.

One player who came into the team at the weekend against Manchester United was Oliver Skipp, and it’s fair to say that the 23-year-old actually did very well at Old Trafford.

Indeed, Skipp performed brilliantly in a tough scenario at Old Trafford, and speaking on Premier League Productions, Leroy Rosenior has noted that he was genuinely shocked by how well Skipp did, claiming that he didn’t think he had this performance in his locker.

Skipp surprised Rosenior

Rosenior spoke highly of the midfielder.

“You mention Richarlison and Werner but what really impressed me was the performance of Oliver Skipp. Skipp went into that side and I didn’t think he had it in him. He did it in the Championship, I thought he’d just be a squad player, but he was excellent,” Rosenior said.

Underestimated

Skipp has had a turbulent 18 months, but let’s not forget, during that initial period under Antonio Conte, he was seen as one of the most promising young players in England.

Skipp is a very talented player who can do it at the top level, he’s just not been given many chances to showcase his abilities as of late.

He’s not as suited to Ange Postecoglou’s style as someone like Pape Sarr or Yves Bissouma, but he is still a very useful depth option who shouldn’t be underestimated.

At the age of just 23, Skipp is a player who is still maturing, and if he continues playing as he did at the weekend, it may not be long before he becomes a regular in the first-team picture at Spurs.
