Pundit picks two Premier League clubs that Scott Parker could join, including Spurs

Darren Bent has told TalkSPORT (Tuesday, 8:10AM) that Fulham manager Scott Parker could join either Tottenham Hotspur or Crystal Palace this summer, despite failing to keep the Cottagers in the Premier League on Monday.

A 2-0 home defeat to Sean Dyche’s Burnley confirmed Fulham in going down, despite many believing they could get out of it at one point – with Newcastle United struggling. Fulham have failed to turn draws into wins.

Parker, though, has impressed in his first season as a Premier League manager. While he has failed to keep Fulham up, he was tasked with a near-impossible job made worse by the board – and he came close to survival.

Has Parker done enough to remain in the Premier League? Ex-Spurs striker Bent thinks so, amid reports he could take over from Jose Mourinho. Bent believes the £67,000-a-week (Express) boss could join Spurs, or Palace.

“Yeah, they need a rebuild,” Bent said, when asked by TalkSPORT presenter Laura Woods if Parker had done enough to join Tottenham. “What was good about Parker, is that he understood the problems at the start of the season.

“They were conceding, getting battered, but he changed it and made it harder to beat. There is no reason why cannot go to Spurs. But he could also go to Crystal Palace,” Bent continued, with the Mail claiming Parker is a Spurs target.

TBR’s view – Can Parker take Spurs or Palace forward?

At either club, Parker must be sure that he would be given the necessary finances to take the clubs forward. Arguably, Spurs need more of a rebuild this summer than the Eagles – given the amount of possible exits.

They have an ageing squad with numerous players set to enter the last 12 months of their contract. Serge Aurier, Erik Lamela, Hugo Lloris and Joe Hart are all about to enter the last year of their deals and a rebuild is required.

If he is given the money, then he can do it – given his management skills are second to none.
