Pundit has noticed Declan Rice always looks to pass to one Arsenal player

Declan Rice is one of the smarter players in the Premier League.

The Arsenal midfielder rarely ever gives the ball away, and when he does make a more risky pass, he seems to make the right call every single time.

Rice reads the game really well, and speaking on his podcast, Eamon Dunphy has noted one trend in Rice’s game that he’s noticed lately.

Indeed, the pundit says that he’s noticed that a lot of the time when Rice gets on the ball, he’s looking to immediately pass to Bukayo Saka.

Declan Rice always looks to pass to Bukayo Saka

Dunphy shared what he’s noticed about the midfielder.

“Saka for example. He’s a goalscorer and a goal maker, and a lot of the time when Rice is on the ball he’s looking for Saka, and they also have Martinelli who is the young left winger, they play with two wingers and that is quite rare these days,” Dunphy said.

Can’t blame him

You can’t blame Rice for always looking for Saka.

There’s an old saying in basketball, ‘feed the hot hand.’ It basically means the key goal is to get the ball to your most in-form player as quickly as possible.

Of course, football is much more intricate than that, but the thought process is very similar. Saka is Arsenal’s most devastating attacking player, and the more often you can get him on the ball in these attacking positions, in theory, Arsenal should be scoring more and more.

Getting the ball to Saka as often as possible really isn’t a bad tactic, and if that pass is often on for Rice, we don’t blame him at all for looking down that avenue time and time again.
