Mikel Arteta has been criticised for his actions during the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash between Arsenal and Porto.
It was Jerome Rothen who made the comments when speaking on RMC Sport.
So, what was said about Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta? Let’s take a look…
Mikel Arteta criticised after Arsenal win
Well, Rothen – who made two appearances against the Arsenal manager during his playing days – was unhappy with how the Spaniard conducted himself on the touchline against Porto.
The 45-year-old said: “Arteta went too far. You can love yourself, see yourself as pretty, think you’re the future great manager of the world, there’s nothing to worry about, but he was already a bit like that when he was a player. I had the opportunity to play against him. He liked himself even thought he wasn’t the best player in the world.
“As a manager, you have to set an example. You can be arrogant and annoyed, but then you end up insulting your opponent… Stop! That’s not possible!

“One day, he’ll be caught out and he won’t like it. It almost happened yesterday. (Sergio) Conceicao – who’s a fiery person – reacted very well, whereas Arteta was out of line. I don’t understand why he didn’t apologise. He’s going to say again that he didn’t say anything.”
Not a problem
Even those who have worked closely with the £159,615-a-week man feel he could tone his brutal honesty down a little bit, according to the Daily Mail.

Nevertheless, football is an emotional game, and nobody can begrudge Arteta for becoming so invested in proceedings on the touchline – it just shows how much he cares.
Presumably, Arsenal fans love to see it.
The 41-year-old acts almost like a fan stood on the sideline, and his energy certainly seems to be getting a tune out of the players, to say the least.
