Pundit claims 24-year-old Arsenal player is ‘sometimes too easy’ to play against

Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior has come in for some criticism by Polish pundit Jacek Bak.

The Gunners ace “hasn’t yet reached the level required” to play regularly for Mikel Arteta‘s side, according to the pundit.

Kiwior has had to bide his time at Arsenal since joining from Italian outfit Spezia a year ago for a reported £20million fee.

However, the 24-year-old began featuring regularly after regular full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko suffered an injury in February.

Kiwior has started in every fixture since coming off the bench in Arsenal’s win over Liverpool in February and has given a good account of himself.

Jakub Kiwior ‘on a roll’ for Arsenal but weekend substitution left Jacek Bak ‘worried’

Zinchenko is now back from injury, replacing the Poland international in the second half of Arsenal’s win over Brentford last weekend.

Now, with the Gunners set to face Porto in their crucial last-16 second leg on Tuesday night, Superexpress suggests that Kiwior could be dropped.

Bak told the outlet, as translated by Sportwitness: “He’s on a roll. He plays regularly, assists, and scores a goal. All this is encouraging in the context of the play-offs [for Poland] that await us.

“But… I was a bit worried about the last change in the Gunners’ league match.”

The pundit went on to say: “I watch Kuba’s matches and I still cannot escape the impression that, despite his enormous potential, he hasn’t yet reached the level required in a team like Arsenal to always play from the first to the last minute.

“Kiwior is sometimes too easy to play in one-on-one situations, and he lacks the self-confidence required of a defender in the Premier League, which is built not so much on league matches, but performances in such competitions as the Champions League.”

Don’t write off Arsenal or any of their players – TBR View

If there’s one thing Arsenal have shown us in recent years, it’s not to write off any of their players.

Just look at how Kai Havertz was slated time and time again following his move, only for him to become a star player for the Gunners.

Likewise, Kiwior copped a lot of criticism in the past, but he has shown he has what it takes to impress for Arsenal.

Any club wanting to win silverware needs good strength in depth, and that’s exactly what Kiwior provides. He has come good and it’ll be good to see how he continues to develop in red and white.
