Don Hutchison has lauded Pape Matar Sarr after his assist for Tottenham Hotspur at Aston Villa today.

Tottenham put in a dominant performance on the road and deservedly picked up a 4-0 win at Villa Park.

The two sides headed into the break level after a fairly dull first half. But Spurs really stepped things up after the break.

A quickfire double from James Maddison and Brennan Johnson set Spurs on their way before their task was made easier by John McGinn’s red card.

Heung-min Son and Timo Werner rounded off an impressive win for Spurs with well-taken goals.

But it was Maddison’s opener which impressed Hutchison and in particular, Pape Matar Sarr’s assist.

Hutchison lauds Sarr as Tottenham trash Villa

Speaking to the Premier League’s official website, Hutchison waxed lyrical about Sarr’s cross for Maddison’s opener.

The 21-year-old was set away down the right-hand side and delivered an inch-perfect ball between Villa’s centre-backs to hand Maddison a simple tap-in.

“You can watch football anywhere in the world and you won’t see a better assist than what Sarr has just produced,” the pundit said “It is an unbelievable cross for James Maddison.”

Sarr came back into the starting line-up today after concerns over a back injury in the win over Crystal Palace last weekend.

The £15 million man continues to impress in the middle of the park and put in a brilliant shift before being replaced by Rodrigo Bentancur in the 70th minute.

Ange Postecoglou will undoubtedly be delighted with his side’s performance today and it puts them right back in the mix for a top-four finish.

Spurs now sit just two points behind Aston Villa, with Postecoglou’s men also having a game in hand over the Villains.

Even though Micky van de Ven was forced off with an injury today, Tottenham will have their destiny in their own hands thanks a vital win at Villa.
