Tottenham have done some truly brilliant transfer business this season.

Micky van de Ven and James Maddison have been incredible signings, but perhaps the signing of the season at Spurs has been Guglielmo Vicario.

Indeed, the goalkeeper came in under a lot of pressure as he was tasked with placing Hugo Lloris, but he’s taken to the role like a duck to water.

Speaking on The Spurs Chat Podcast, Lianne Sanderson has been discussing Vicario’s move to Tottenham, and she couldn’t believe just how cheap Vicario was this summer at just £17m from Empoli.

Sanderson blown away by how much Vicario cost

Sanderson shared her verdict on the goalkeeper.

“With Tottenham I love a lot of their players, Son, Van de Ven, Vicario, great signings, Vicario was about £17m or something wasn’t he? What’s all that about? Unbelievable, you look at Onana and Vicario and it’s night and day,” Sanderson said.

Bargain

There are no two ways about it, this was an incredible signing from Tottenham.

£17m for a goalkeeper who is genuinely one of the best in the Premier League is truly remarkable business.

We live in a market where the likes of Andre Onana and Kepa Arrizabalaga cost an arm and a leg only to struggle at their respective clubs, but Spurs have sniffed out a gem in the shape of Vicario and he’s proven to be one of the signings of the season already.

Replacing Lloris was a huge task for Spurs this summer after over a decade of great service, but Spurs supporters will surely be happier than they have been for a long time with their goalkeeping situation.

Tottenham’s transfer business this year has been nothing short of incredible, and Vicario may well be the best signing they made in a long list of brilliant additions.
