PSG have reportedly made first contact with Stade Rennais over 18-year-old midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, with Arsenal this week being linked with the French international.
According to L’Equipe, club Sporting Director Leonardo has commenced talks with the Ligue 1 club in a bid to secure the teenager’s signature this summer, with PSG viewing the teenager as the future of their midfield as well as a realistic signing, with the report stating that Bayern Munich are reluctant to pay more than €25m (£21.5m) for Camavinga.

Arsenal have also been linked with the French prospect in recent days, with Le 10 Sport claiming that the midfielder is ‘a top priority’ for the Gunners as Mikel Arteta plans a huge squad overhaul of the north London side, with the Guardian reporting that as many as five first-team names, including midfielder Granit Xhaka, could leave in the transfer window.
Camavinga, who has been compared to Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira as per Ligue 1’s official website, will likely be one of the most in-demand players in the market this summer, with the Daily Mail reporting that Rennais are eager to cash in on their star talent, who has just one year remaining on his current deal with the French club.

TBR View: Camavinga signing is a miracle too far for Arsenal this time
Despite not playing UEFA Champions League football since 2017, Arsenal have remained a fairly active club in the transfer window over the proceeding years and have managed to pull off some impressive signings, such as Nicolas Pepe in 2019 and Thomas Partey last year on deadline day, yet Camavinga might just be out of reach for the Gunners.
The French midfielder would a perfect Arsenal signing given his ability and ridiculous potential, but with PSG already making the first move for the teenager and the Gunners set to play no European football at all next season, signing Camavinga might just, this time, be out of reach for the north London club.
