PSG have reportedly firmed up their interest in signing Lyon midfielder and Arsenal target, Houssem Aouar, according to RMC Sport.

The French midfielder has developed into one of the hottest properties in European football in recent seasons.

However, Lyon have struggled this season in Ligue 1 and could finally decide to cash in on the French international this summer.

Arsenal are said to be interested in landing Aouar. The Gunners have always kept a keen on eye on the French market ever since Arsene Wenger was in charge and the 21-year-old is thought to interest the north London club.

The Gunners, though, already faced competition from the likes of Liverpool and Juventus when it came to signing Aouar.

PSG’s apparent interest will be a big blow to Mikel Arteta. The French outfit already possesses the spending power to blow Arsenal out of the water. That, coupled with the lure of staying in France, might be enough to see the Paris outfit land Aouar.

Aouar has been performing so well for a while now that it’s easy to forget that the midfielder is still only 21.

It’s little surprise, too, to see PSG start to chuck their weight into any conversations when it comes to the Lyon man.

Pep Guardiola has described Aouar as ‘incredible’ in the past. That affirmation from one of the game’s top managers suggests just how big a talent the midfielder is.

The sad reality for Arsenal here is that if PSG does want him, then they’ll probably get their man. Money often talks in football and sadly for the Gunners, PSG aren’t frightened of splashing the cash.
