PSG planning summer bid for Kante could boost Everton hopes of keeping Gueye

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain want to sign Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, according to French outlet Le 10 Sport.

They report that PSG are prepared for a transfer battle because Kante signed a new contract back in November but they have been given some encouragement.

That apparently comes from the nature of Kante’s relationship with Blues manager Maurizio Sarri – which is apparently not as good as it was with previous boss Antonio Conte.

The deterioration could come from the fact that Kante is being played out of position – not in his favoured holding midfield role – and it apparently gives PSG hope that a deal could be done in the summer.

PSG’s search for central midfield improvements has already reportedly (Daily Mail, January 28) brought them to the door of one Premier League side; Everton’s, with designs on signing Idrissa Gueye.

The Toffees managed to fend off the interest and the fact that PSG have now turned their attention to Kante may mean that they will be able to keep the former Aston Villa midfielder beyond the summer transfer window.

The fact that PSG also signed Leandro Paredes during last month’s window will help on that score and potentially allow Marco Silva to plan for next season with Gueye in his ranks.
