PSG have just made move for £40m player who Arsenal are favourites to sign this week

Riccardo Calafiori seems to be the talk of the transfer window at the moment.

The Italian defender is coming off the back of an incredible season with Bologna, and a number of Europe’s top clubs are said to have their eyes on the defender.

It was reported on Wednesday morning that Arsenal had made a £40m bid for the Bologna star, and the Gunners are said to be favourites to get this deal done.

However, as we all know in the transfer window, there’s always time for a twist, and according to Gianluca Di Marzio, another huge team has just entered the race.

PSG enter Riccardo Calafiori race

Di Marzio shared an update on X about Calafiori’s future.

The Italian journalist claims that Arsenal remain favourites to get this deal done, but PSG, Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea are making moves in the last few hours.

Arsenal are leading this race, but the presence of PSG in this transfer tussle may be worrying for the Gunners.

PSG are, of course, one of the richest clubs in Europe, and given that Arsenal don’t have an open spot in their starting XI for Calafiori, they could offer him a better route into the first-team as well.

Calafiori deal to be done this week

Di Marzio says that this will be a crucial week in the Calafiori race, and a deal could be done soon.

Arsenal are in pole position right now, but, as previous transfer tales involving the likes of Mykhaylo Mudryk have shown us, it only takes one bid to completely change the story.

Calafiori has four top clubs chasing his signature, and no matter what decision he makes this summer he will likely be playing at a high level next season for a team that can challenge for major honours.

Arsenal are leading this race as things stand, but PSG’s presence is threatening to say the least.
