Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has laughed off questions regarding a potential move for Everton midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye.
The Senegal international captain has been linked with a move to the French capital since the January transfer window and this summer the French giants appear to be back in for the player.
Tuchel was speaking after a 6-1 friendly win against Dynamo Dresden. As reported by Football.fr, the German admitted that the club could be on the hunt for another holding midfielder:
“With (recent signing) Abdou Diallo, we have an additional solution in central defense. the possibility of Marquinhos to play number 6. But we may be waiting for one more number six.”
However, he laughed off suggestions that player could be Gueye:
“I can not comment on any particular names, sorry.”
According to Le Parisien, PSG sporting director Leonardo will start his attempts to sign Gueye after the African Cup of Nations final on Friday. Gueye has been in fine form at the competition as the captain of the Teranga Lions.
The report also claimed Everton are not ‘opposed’ to the idea of selling Gueye this summer in the way they were in January.
A recent report from L’Equipe suggested PSG will start the bidding at €30 million (£27.1 million) for the player. That is likely to fall on deaf ears at Everton but at the right price a sale does look possible.
