‘Promising’, ‘First of many’ – These Everton fans were delighted with Anthony Gordon

Everton picked up another point yesterday and saw manager Carlo Ancelotti hand a debut to young midfielder, Anthony Gordon.

The youngster replaced Bernard midway through the 1-1 draw with the Hammers. Gordon made a decent impact too, contributing to a half of football where the Toffees probably should have added a second goal.

However, Gordon and his teammates had to settle for a point in London. The revival under Carlo Ancelotti is continuing, and it’s safe to say things are on the up at Goodison Park now.

But aside from the result yesterday, most eyes were on Gordon.

Being thrust into the action by Ancelotti was a clear sign of how highly-rated he is by the Italian manager. He showed some nice touches, too, looking comfortable at Premier League level.

Everton fans, as we know, love to see one of their home-grown talents emerge. We’ve seen it in previous years, with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Tom Davies both going on to do well, while Ross Barkley has since moved on to Chelsea.

Following the game, then, Twitter was awash with comments direct at Gordon after he took time out to say how proud he was to make his debut.

It’s looking very much like the Toffees could have another local hero on their hands…

TBR View – Lovely to see

It’s always nice to see a young player being given his chance.

Anthony Gordon seemed to revel in being given his opportunity. He grew into the game as time went by and but for a bit of composure, might have even got himself a goal.

Everton are certainly on the up under Carlo Ancelotti it seems. If the Italian keeps giving the youngsters a chance, then it will only increase his bond with the Toffees fans too.

Gordon will be hoping for a successful start to his career under the former Milan manager.
