Eric Dier hasn’t featured for Tottenham so far this season, but it doesn’t sound as though he will be leaving in January.
Indeed, speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has been discussing Dier’s future, and he says that the defender probably won’t be sold in the winter window unless an amazing deal comes up.
The defender won’t be at Spurs for much longer as his contract is up in the summer, and, by the sounds of it, Dier’s plan is to see his contract out and become a free agent at the end of the season before negotiating his next move.

Dier unlikely to leave in January
Gold spoke about Dier’s future.
“If we’re assuming that Dier is going to leave next summer. Probably not in January unless the most amazing deal for him and Spurs came up that would make him forego becoming a free agent and the extra money that comes with that next summer,” Gold said.
Makes sense
It makes sense that Dier won’t be leaving in January.
As Gold says, the defender’s best financial move right now is to see out his Tottenham contract and get a move as a free agent with a tasty signing on fee.
Even for Tottenham, getting rid of Dier doesn’t make sense. He’s apparently an important figure in the dressing room to this day, and he does provide some important cover at the back – even if he’s not been needed so far this season.
There will be a bit of a clearout at Tottenham in the near future as the likes of Hugo Lloris, Dier, Ryan Sessegnon and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are all likely to be on the lookout for new clubs.
Dier will likely be staying in January, but make no mistake about it, his time at Tottenham is winding down.
