Previous Guidetti comments will surely mean he’ll never get Celtic return he desires

John Guidetti wants to return to Celtic rather than move to Galatasaray, according to Turkish publication Webaslan.

The Deportivo Alaves striker is supposedly seen as a potential replacement for Bafetimbi Gomis, who left the club to join Al-Hilal.

But the Swedish hitman, who went to the World Cup with his country this summer, would supposedly rather move back to Parkhead, where he spent four seasons in total.

Guidetti pitched up in Scotland on loan from Manchester City in 2014, and scored 15 goals in 35 appearances for the club.

He started brightly, but eventually played second fiddle to Leigh Griffiths.

Guidetti apparently wants a return to the Scottish giants, but he’ll do well to get one after coming out with some silly comments since his departure in 2015.

What did he say?

In 2015, Guidetti revealed that he felt his goals weren’t counted the same. He said, as quoted by The Daily Record: “It felt like my goals at Celtic were not counted in the same way as in other leagues and I can understand.”

“We played Inter and the stadium was packed. It was the most magical atmosphere I have experienced. But there are too few big games in Celtic.”

Last year, Guidetti fired shots at the club again. He said, as quoted by The Scottish Sun: “I went to Celtic, smash it the first half of the season, and then they said, ‘John you have to sign a contract’. I said, ‘Listen, I don’t think I owe you anything’. Celtic’s a massive club but I like the big games.

“I don’t like – with all respect – Ross County away.”

Fans surely shouldn’t worry about his return

Celtic supporters didn’t take kindly to Guidetti’s previous comments about the club at the time, and they aren’t likely to forget what he said.

There seems to be an arrogance about him or at least, there was.

Celtic need another striker in January, but surely the board won’t be tempted by swooping for a potential bad egg, even if he did show signs of quality in 2014/15.
