Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with Arsenal and Tottenham reportedly keen.

The Serbian, dubbed as the ‘new Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘, was a star in Italy last season. He scored 21 goals in Serie A and many were convinced that he would leave La Viola. However, he stayed and Fiorentina are now desperate to extend his deal.

Vlahovic will enter the final year of his contract next summer. Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso has confirmed that he has tabled a club-record offer to convince him to stay, but he doesn’t seem too confident.

Vlahovic offered club-record contract to snub Arsenal and Tottenham

Commisso told TMW last night: “I do not know if he will sign, we are calm. We have been working on it for months, one day we are positive, others less. But I am neither positive nor negative (now).

Why Does One Of The World's Poorest Countries Sponsor Arsenal?

“What I say is that it would be the largest figure ever given to a Fiorentina player, including Batistuta and Rui Costa. He’s taking a big risk, I told him. We offer him a five-year contract at 40 million euros gross [£35m].

“I was working a year to take what it would take in two or three days. I don’t know where it came with, this football. [I’m annoyed] a little bit, yes, Fiorentina is not just Vlahovic, the group is there and we want to keep it focused.”

Boost for English clubs?

Calciomercato revealed not too long ago that Tottenham, after their failed attempt in the summer, will try to sign Vlahovic again next year. Di Marzio reported last month that Arsenal and Manchester City are keen as well.

None of the interested English sides could secure a deal in the summer, but that could change in 2022. Vlahovic will only have a year left on his contract next summer and Fiorentina will be forced to sell him if he refuses to extend his deal.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham will all need a new number nine next summer. Vlahovic would be an incredible signing and the fact that he’ll likely be available for a bargain fee makes him a very attractive option as well.
