A “classic target man” reportedly on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has been given the green light to move this summer, as confirmed on L’Equipe du Soir.

Tottenham have been linked with Amiens forward Serhou Guirassy, Metro claiming earlier this month that Spurs had enquired about the 24-year-old along with Chelsea and West Ham.

Guirassy joined Amiens on loan from Koln in January 2019 and was signed permanently ahead of the 2019-20 season.

Over the past 18 months, the former France youth international claimed 12 goals and two assists from 37 appearances in all competitions.

With the French football season decided on “points per game” following the suspension due to the global health crisis, Amiens have been relegated from Ligue 1.

Although the Unicorns look set to take legal action, club president Bernard Joannin has admitted that he won’t stand in Guirassy’s way after he stayed put in January to aid their relegation battle.

“With Serhou, we have a commitment (to letting him go this summer),” said Joannin, in quotes translated by Le11 Amienois.

“He had important proposals from English clubs (in January), but he wanted to stay to save the club – these were the words he said to me. He wanted to go to until the end of the story with his teammates.

“(Now) we have important proposals from England and also from France.”

Guirassy has been praised by the Ligue 1 website, which wrote about him: “Tall and powerful, Guirassy has all the hallmarks of a classic target man, and he can play this role.

“Strong in the air and in the challenge, Guirassy has that killer instinct and is a tough prospect for defenders and ‘keepers alike.”

Le10 Sport claims Amiens are hoping for between 15 and 20 million Euros (around £13million to £18million) so he wouldn’t be too expensive for Spurs, who are in desperate need of bolstering their attacking ranks next season.

Scoring twice in one game against PSG, as he did in the 4-4 draw last February, is no easy feat, and there was even a time when the 6ft 2in forward was linked with Tottenham’s arch-rivals Arsenal, who reportedly wanted him for £1million back in 2016 (talkSPORT).
