Right-Forward: Joshua King (Bournemouth)
This forward was the first name on our Team of the Week this time round. An early penalty miss from King followed by West Ham breaking up the other end to go 1-0 up through Michail Antonio, before Benik Afobe missed a second penalty for the hosts all threatened to make it a bad day for the former Blackburn man and his team, but he responded in devastating fashion, atoning from missing from 12 yards by hooking the ball over his marker to volley home the equaliser, and then turned the game on its head with a close range finish just after half-time.
The two spot-kick misses looked to have haunted Bournemouth again after Andre Ayew salvaged a late Hammers equaliser, but King and the Cherries were not to be denied, and after West Ham goalkeeper Darren Randolph had parried Jack Wilshere’s effort, the Norwegian reacted quickest to latch onto the loose ball and rifle home into the roof of the net to earn Bournemouth three much-needed points.
Centre-Forward: Romelu Lukaku (Everton)
Another fantastic display from one of the Premier League’s greatest strikers at present. He set about making a nuisance of himself all game for visitors West Brom with his height and physical presence, but Everton were struggling to get that decisive breakthrough.
After Kevin Mirallas found it, a piece of unselfish brilliance from fellow Belgian Lukaku crafted the second, a splendid turn and through ball picking out the run of Morgan Schneiderlin, and the Frechman gratefully did the rest with a cool finish over Foster to hand Everton a two-goal cushion.
And Lukaku added the coup de gras in one of the Toffees’ finest performances under Koeman’s tenure, cushioning the ball home into the top corner from Ross Barkley’s teasing cross to end the Baggies’ misery on Merseyside.
Left-Forward: Oumar Niasse (Hull City)
Niasse is another player who had become something of a forgotten man but has been rejuvenated and given a new lease of life since joining Hull on-loan from Everton.
Niasse has already adhered himself to the Hull faithful with a goal against Liverpool, which fans of his parent club are also sure to have enjoyed, but he made his presence matter here and proved the difference in a critical clash with Swansea near the bottom. After being introduced from the bench by Marco Silva, in place of N’Diaye, he had only been on the pitch for six minutes before Abel Hernandez picked him out with a pass and he finished calmly beyond Lukasz Fabianski to give the Tigers a vital lead. He added his second just minutes later, finishing wonderfully from Ahmed Elmohamady’s cross, which would prove enough to ensure the points would remain on Humberside, three points that may be key in Hull;s quest to remain in the Premier League.
