Right-Midfield: Adam Lallana (Liverpool)

Having been somewhat overshadowed by other players during the fledgling months have his Liverpool career, Adam Lallana is finally becoming something of a lynch-pin in the Reds’ midfield. He was fantastic against Arsenal, playing with a verve and swagger that makes him look right at home amongst the ranks of this famous old club, crafting Sadio Mané’s goal and playing a key part in the build-up to Georginio Wijnaldum’s emphatic strike which sealed the three points in stoppage time.

The statistics are also reflective of his growing influence. He has been involved in 14 of Liverpool’s goals this season, a total bettered only by the 17 which Sadio Mané has had a hand in.

Centre-Midfield: David Silva (Manchester City)

They were forced to withstand some early Sunderland fire, but as soon as Manchester City began to gain a foothold in the game and exert their authority at the Stadium of Light, they were going to take some stopping. The hosts just couldn’t deal with them, and David Silva pulled all the strings in midfield next to Yaya Touré, and was very unlucky not to have helped himself to a goal, after failing to connect with Leroy Sané’s low ball across goal which just fizzed beyond the Spaniard’s reach.

Silva is at his best when utilising the pockets of space in and around the penalty area, and he drifted around, picking holes in the Black Cats’ defence all afternoon. It was his pass that picked out Leroy Sané after the break, and the German did the rest to rack up another assist for the midfield maestro.

Centre-Midfield: Tom Carroll (Swansea City)

Swansea had to work hard as their clash with Burnley turned into a classic, and the former Tottenham youngster was one of the forces behind all of Swansea’s creativity, alongside Leroy Fer and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Carroll has already had quite the impact in South Wales, with the Swans winning four of the six games in which the youngster has featured since arriving from White Hart Lane, and with time running out, he produced a moment of magic for the winner, picking out Fernando Llorente with a sweeping cross, and the Spaniard did the rest to clinch three valuable points for the hosts.

Left-Midfield: Nathan Redmond (Southampton)

Nathan Redmond is maturing into some player, having developed wonderfully since his fledgling days at Birmingham City and then Norwich. He has rapidly turned into a key player for Saints, and he was at the double again as Claude Puel’s men edged a seven-goal thriller at Watford.

His first strike was a wonderful daisy-cutter of a finish into the bottom corner to finish off a sumptuous team move from the away side, and he helped himself to a second after the break, firing a strike into the roof of the net that was just too hot for Heurelho Gomes to handle. If Redmond continues to show form like this, it begs the question as to whether or not an England call-up may follow soon.
