Goalkeeper: Ben Foster (West Bromwich Albion)

Ben Foster was a wall for his side against Bournemouth. In a hard-fought 2-1 win at the Hawthorns, his biggest moment came when Tyrone Mings for all the world looked like he’d netted a dream header for the visitors. But the capped England goalkeeper came up with a stop to match, with a wonderful left-handed save to deny the left-back and preserve all three points for the home side.

Right-Back: Seamus Coleman (Everton)

The Ireland international has undoubtedly been one of Everton’s most consistent performers throughout the season, and he had another stormer at Goodison Park in the Toffees’ victory over Sunderland. He laid on a wonderful assist for Idrissa Gueye to score and almost helped himself to a second assist after crossing for Ross Barkley in the second-half, only for the England youngster to fluff his lines.

Throughout the campaign and indeed his Everton career, Coleman’s tireless running up and down the flanks has ensured that he has had a hand in four goals in his previous six games, with one strike and three assists, and he was a thorn in the side of the struggling Black Cats over the weekend.

Centre-Back: Gareth McAuley (West Bromwich Albion)

The Northern Ireland international made his 500th career appearance against Bournemouth, and he capped it off in fine fashion with a sterling defensive performance and a goal to mark the milestone occasion, after Artur Boruc’s mistake left the goal at McAuley’s mercy.

His latest strike against Eddie Howe’s Cherries was his sixth of the season, one of the best ratios for a defender in the league this season.

Centre-Back: Michael Keane (Burnley)

Burnley’s game at Hull threatened to be a match to forget for the former Manchester United youngster after his handball gifted the hosts a spot-kick which put them ahead, but he redeemed himself in fine fashion, plundering the goal that earned the Clarets a share of the spoils on Humberside.

Keane chested the ball down, and cushioned it onto the ground before planting a wonderful strike into the back of the net to haul his team back into the match, to the delight of Sean Dyche and the travelling contingent from neighbouring Lancashire.

Left-Back: Patrick Van Aanholt (Crystal Palace)

The Dutchman’s blistering runs down the flank and tendency to look for goal were probably the primary motivations behind Sam Allardyce moving to bring his former player to Selhurst Park, and he certainly put his abilities to good use over the weekend, netting the goal which sank Middlesbrough.

His years at Sunderland have made him into a player that knows what it takes to survive in the league, and scoring goals of his own will only aid the Palace cause.
