Coach: Paul Clement (Swansea City)

Formation: 3-5-2

He may have watched Alan Curtis coach the Swans to a big win away at Crystal Palace just a few weeks ago, but any delusions former Derby boss Paul Clement had that the Swansea job would be easy would soon be shattered following back-to-back defeats against Hull City and Arsenal. Of course, he took the job in the first-place to avoid the ‘easy life’ of assisting Carlo Ancelotti at Bayern Munich, in his own words. His first actual win as Swansea manager this weekend, however, certainly wasn’t easy, in fact, it was nothing short of tremendous. He made sure his side maintained their discipline at the back to make it to half-time at Anfield goal-less against Liverpool, where Step Two was to encourage his team to stick to the task in hand and take their chance when it came.

Only they didn’t just get one. Or two. But three. Two quick-fire Fernando Llorente goals stunned Anfield into silence, and even when a Roberto Firmino double hauled the Reds back into contention, Clement ensured his team stayed firmly at the races, and rather than let their heads drop, they capitalised on some more poor Liverpool defending and netted the winner, this time Gylfi Sigurdsson the grateful recipient of Tom Carroll’s pass.

It was a stunning and much-needed victory in Swansea’s battle to stave off relegation, their first in the league at Anfield, and probably the shock of the weekend. Clement getting our pick for Coach of the Week was a no-brainer.
