Right-Forward: Matt Phillips (West Bromwich Albion)

Salomon Rondon’s hat-trick for West Brom against Swansea may have meant that he took all the plaudits, but Matt Phillips like teammate Chris Brunt was one of the creative sparks behind Rondon’s goals, and Albion’s wonderful attacking play.

His sumptuous free-kick found the head of Rondon for the first goal, his latest assist meaning that the Scottish winger has now had a hand in seven goals in his last six Premier League games for the Baggies, scoring three and assisting four. Swansea were picked apart by his and Brunt’s pinpoint crossing, whilst he also ran Neil Taylor ragged down the Albion right. A difficult afternoon for the visitors and for Bob Bradley, who will need to deal with his team’s Dracula-esque tendencies in defence if they are to have any hope of surviving.

Centre-Forward: Salomon Rondon (West Bromwich Albion)

The Venezuela international was the epitome of clinical in West Brom’s clash with Swansea, hitting a hat-trick of headed goals following a perfect exhibition of crossing from teammates Matt Phillips and Chris Brunt.

He fired a warning shot in the first-half, drawing a fine save from Lukasz Fabianski as the Baggies’ momentum began to boil under the surface before they got into gear after the break. Swansea didn’t heed, and all three of Rondon’s goals came in a 13-minute period in the second-half which stunned the shell-shocked visitors. He had a total of six efforts on target in the game, four on target, from which he netted a hat-trick. A ruthless performance.

He may have had the freedom of the Hawthorns to net home the first two, the first goal coming from Matt Phillips’ inswinging free-kick and the second from a wonderful Chris Brunt ball towards the back post, but his third was the pick of the lot, the £12million man rising like a salmon to nod another Brunt cross into the top right corner.

Rondon’s three goals means he has now netted 16 times in the Premier League since the start of last season, 11 more than any other Baggies player, the closest to him being the five managed by James Morrison.

His 13-minute hat-trick also made a little history. It was the quickest treble scored by an Albion player in the Premier League, breaking Robert Earnshaw’s record of a 16-minute hat-trick against Charlton back in 2005, and it made him only the second player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick of headers; the first being former Everton striker Duncan Ferguson, who first achieved the feat in 1997 against Bolton Wanderers.

Left-Forward: Adam Lallana (Liverpool)

Liverpool were excellent in their demolition of Middlesbrough at the Riverside, but Adam Lallana in particular was at the heart of everything good that the Reds created. He was on hand after 20 minutes to nod home from Nathaniel Clyne’s inviting cross to give Liverpool the lead, yet shortly after tracked back to fulfil defensive duties for his team,  sliding in to block a stinging Adam Forshaw effort at the other end.

His role in the build-up of Liverpool’s second was also vital, participating in a one-touch interchange involving himself, Georginio Wijnaldum, Sadio Mané, before crossing for Divock Origi to finish beyond a helpless Victor Valdes and press home the advantage in what was turning into a stylish performance.

Lallana was on hand once more later on, when roles were reversed and Origi turned provider; the Belgian laying off for the England international to emphatically finish first-time for Liverpool’s third.

The former Southampton youngster has now been involved in 12 goals for the Reds this season, scoring six and assisting six, and has therefore already bettered the ten goals he had a hand in throughout the entirety of last season. At the Riverside, Lallana was the man behind Liverpool’s creative spark and his two goals and assist rounded off a superb individual display. His importance in Jurgen Klopp’s side is now surely undeniable.
