Right-Midfield: Chris Brunt (West Bromwich Albion)

What an impact the Northern Ireland international has had since returning from injury. His reinstating into the Baggies side has coincided with a series of games where the Albion have begun to show their attacking qualities, even under manager Tony Pulis, who is known to favour a more defensive style of play.

Brunt was the master provider on the day as the Albion sought to break down a stubborn Swansea, and it was his precise crossing that the Welsh side simply couldn’t deal with, as he found the head of Salomon Rondon not once, but twice, to see the Baggies home for another three points.

His ball in led to the second goal, a sumptuous cross deep toward the far post which left goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski helpless and Rondon with the freedom of the Hawthorns to head home, before another sumptuous ball in once again found the intended target of the Venezuelan, who beautifully headed the ball into the top right corner. Three goals in a 13 minute period which knocked the stuffing out of the Swans, and although Rondon was the man to take the plaudits, Brunt was one of the quiet maestros pulling all the strings.

His latest two assists for the Baggies means he now has 42 Premier League assists for West Brom, 19 more than any other player for the club.

Centre-Midfield: Paul Pogba (Manchester United)

Paul Pogbaa was one of Mourinho’s showpiece signings when he took over in the summer, and despite suffering a difficult start to his second spell at United, it seems he is starting to deliver, with a fine chemistry developing between him and striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Despite the dispute about both the creation and the finish for Pogba’s opening goal, with the Frenchman thought to have been in an offside position, and there being more than suspicion of handball on Ibrahimovic’s part, it was nonetheless a prime example of how the pair are beginning to link instinctively and play on the same wavelength.

And they did it again in the decisive moment when the game was won, Ibrahimovic making the perfect run to finish from Pogba’s inch perfect through-ball. Two world-class players in such tune is a blessing for Mourinho, at a time when his team was beginning to come under scrutiny.

With a goal and an assist to his name, for the first time in Manchester United colours, it was a man of the match display for Pogba and one that finally ended with the flourish of three points away from home, a welcome victory after the difficulties United have had in seeing out games of late.

Left-Midfield: Christian Eriksen (Tottenham Hotspur)

Danish international Christian Eriksen netted a fine brace against Hull, and in all honesty was desperately unlucky not to have completed his hat-trick and taken home the match ball.

His first was laid on a plate for him inside 15 minutes after good work down the left from Danny Rose, who then after cutting inside laid off for Eriksen to thump home with a fine first time finish into the top corner. Kyle Walker later did likewise from the right for Eriksen’s second, crossing low for Eriksen to to tap home at the far post, killing off any hopes Hull may have harboured about mounting a comeback. It was the Dane’s fifth goal in his last four Premier League games.

The lively Eriksen was denied his hat-trick in the second half, after his superb free-kick was expertly tipped on to the post by Hull goalkeeper David Marshall, but Victor Wanyama was on hand to tap home and see Spurs home with a 3-0 advantage.

However, two goals and an assist for the third capped off a fine display from Eriksen, meaning he has now been involved in six goals in his last four Premier League matches, scoring five and assisting one. He also clocked up a team-high of 48 passes inside the Hull half on the night, and sent six crosses into the box; a match-high statistic.
