Right-Midfield: Sadio Mané (Liverpool)
The Senegalese is turning out to be some buy for Liverpool. He has now scored five in his last five appearances at Anfield and his performance against Watford in Liverpool’s 6-1 triumph showed his killer instinct in front of goal.
Bar his goalscoring, his presence in the forward line, incisive runs, movement and interchange with teammates renders him a nuisance for any opponent and he only seems to be getting better every game. Many look at the lack of a seasoned goalscorer who can be kept fit as a weakness, but Mané’s performances are helping remedy that perfectly and his impact has even invited comparisons to that of Luis Suarez.
Centre-Attacking Midfield: Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool)
Liverpool’s team performance and intensity blew Watford away on Sunday, and the influence and industry of Philippe Coutinho was once more instrumental. There was a goal and an assist for the 24-year-old, who has now had a hand in eight goals in his last seven Premier League games for the Reds, and he was a thorn in the side of Watford throughout Sunday’s contest, if you could call it that.
Liverpool are flying at the moment largely because of the exploits of the Brazilian, who deservedly won October’s Player of the Month award for his troubles, and on his current form it would seem an injustice if the Reds fail to win anything this season.
Left-Midfield: Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
After a torrid time of it last season, Eden Hazard looks a rejuvenated player again this campaign under Antonio Conte, and the Belgian didn’t need a second invitation to set about ending Everton’s record of having the best defence in the Premier League this season, as he and his teammates began dismantling the Toffees in a 5-0 rout.
All three of Hazard’s efforts on goal found the target, two of which resulted in goals, and it seems the Belgian is enjoying a new lease of life in Conte’s new system, being given the freedom to roam and wreak havoc on opposition defences with the assurance and security of a strong defensive line behind him.
It is a wonder to behold and keeps Chelsea, despite prioritising defence, an exciting team to watch, and Hazard’s display of craft and creativity was just too hot for Everton to handle.
