Premier League: Team of the Week IX feat. Chelsea and Liverpool stars
Match-day Nine of the 2016/17 season threw up some mouth-watering results for the football family to digest over the weekend, one of the more notable being Chelsea’s 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, to seal an unhappy return to West London for former manager Jose Mourinho.
Elsewhere Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City suffered another stumble on home turf, only managing a 1-1 draw against a dogged Southampton, but the point was ultimately enough to see them return to the top of the Premier League on goal difference. Arsenal missed the chance to go top this weekend after being held to a goal-less draw by Middlesbrough at the Emirates, and defending champions Leicester looked more like themselves, consolidating their imperious home record with an impressive 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Liverpool put themselves into the reckoning with a 2-1 home win over West Bromwich Albion, whilst near the bottom of the table Stoke City, Burnley and West Ham United all came away with crucial victories.
But who were amongst the best to stand out during the weekend’s action to make The Boot Room’s latest edition of Team of the Week?
