TBR Football speaks to former referee Mark Clattenburg and chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, who give their Premier League predictions for the weekend ahead.

After an international break that saw England win both games under Thomas Tuchel, the Premier League returns – and it does so with a bang.

Aston Villa take on Tottenham in what will be a tense encounter, while Liverpool host Manchester United in one of English football’s great rivalries.

Here, TBR Football hears from two leading voices in the game as they share their verdicts on what promises to be another compelling weekend of Premier League action.

Premier League Predictions for Game Week Eight

Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea

Mark Clattenburg: “Something has to turn for Ange Postecoglou and I believe, with the crowd behind them, they’ll match Chelsea.”

Graeme Bailey: “I don’t think Ange’s high line is a good fit for Forest and Chelsea will take advantage.”

Poll: Your prediction?

Brighton vs Newcastle United

Mark Clattenburg: “Draw Newcastle have found some form, but Brighton are strong at home.”

Graeme Bailey: “Newcastle are coming into a bit of form and I am not a huge fan of Brighton under Fabian Hurzler – I think they are pretty ordinary.”

Burnley vs Leeds United

Mark Clattenburg: “This is a tough one to call, but I think Burnley will nick it by the odd goal at home.”

Graeme Bailey: I think both of these sides have performed pretty well since being promoted – Scott Parker’s side needs the win here, but I think they come up short.

Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth

Mark Clattenburg: “Another tough one to call as both teams are in great form, but I think Crystal Palace will win.”

Graeme Bailey: “Glasner vs Iraola – two of the most in-demand managers in Europe – this is a cracker but they cancel each other out.”

Manchester City vs Everton

Mark Clattenburg: “Manchester City at home will always be difficult for any team. Easy win.”

Graeme Bailey: “No Jack Grealish is a huge blow for Everton, but a huge relief to City as they will be happy not to face him. City ease to victory.”

Sunderland vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Mark Clattenburg: “Sunderland are very strong at home, but Wolves will make it difficult.”

Graeme Bailey: “Wolves, I think, are better than their record suggests, but just not sure they have enough to win on Wearside.”

Fulham vs Arsenal

Mark Clattenburg:Arsenal are in good form.”

Graeme Bailey: “It is games like this that potential champions get over the line. This won’t be pretty, but it will be three points for Mikel Arteta.”

Tottenham Hotspur vs Aston Villa

Mark Clattenburg: “Spurs are strong at home this season, and Aston Villa are not consistent.”

Graeme Bailey: “Two of the most unpredictable sides in the EPL. Villa look improved, but I think Tottenham have the edge.”

Liverpool vs Manchester United

Mark Clattenburg: “Always a tough match, but home advantage will help Liverpool.”

Graeme Bailey: “A lot of things are going to have to happen for United to get something from this game… and they won’t. The pressure is piled back on Amorim with Arne Slot’s side finally turning up for the first time this season.”
