Premier League manager gives Leeds a huge promotion boost

Graham Potter has told The Argus during a video conference that all of Brighton’s loan players will remain at their temporary clubs until the end of the season – which hands Leeds United a huge promotion boost.

White, 22, has caught plenty of admirers for his stunning performances for Leeds this season – in which he has played every single minute of the Whites’ Championship campaign, starting and finishing all 37 matches.

His performances have even seen pundits and teammates alike state that the centre-back – who has also been used in holding midfield – could join a top-six Premier League side, and become an England international.

Leeds will have been desperate to keep White until at least the end of the season and it looks as though he will now stay, after Potter told The Argus that the centre-back will remain on loan – like all of Brighton’s other loan players.

“All players on loan will stay where they are – and then discuss things at the end of the season,” Potter said.

TBR’s view – What are the chances Leeds can keep White?

Prior to the global health crisis, you would have said the chances of keeping White were somewhat 50-50 if Leeds gained promotion to the Premier League. A similar case to that of Aston Villa signing Tyrone Mings.

But the global health crisis has seen professional clubs’ finances come into serious question. Leeds were one of the first clubs to agree a wage deferral or pay cut, but they are likely to remain cautious in the market.

Brighton are likely to charge more than £20million for White and Leeds had little chance to begin with – now, they have almost no chance.
