An unnamed Premier League manager has spotted a major advantage Ange Postecoglou has at Tottenham this season.

It was the Telegraph who provided the comments.

So, what was said about Tottenham? Let’s take a look…

Tottenham told they have one huge advantage

Well, a mystery Premier League manager has claimed that Tottenham have a “big advantage” by not having to deal with European football this season.

The anonymous figure said: “Spurs have a big advantage this season. Postecoglou has a week to prepare his players for each game and their load is much, much lighter.

“Newcastle really benefited from having a lighter schedule than their rivals last season, which helped them get Champions League, but they still played more games than Tottenham will this season. You can see how the increase in games has impacted Eddie Howe this season.”

Now, we understand the sentiment, although we wouldn’t really describe a lack of European football as an advantage.

Tottenham would undoubtedly love to be involved in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League this season, so Postecoglou would probably argue that no European football is a negative, if anything.

Of course, it is advantageous in the fact rival sides may be more fatigued for some games, although Spurs will surely not be viewing a lack of European football as something to be pleased about.

Time for Tottenham to make it count

As aforesaid – while Spurs will not be shouting from the rooftops about a lack of European football – it is helpful in some ways, mainly due to the fact rivals will be more tired.

Now more than ever, it is time to make that count as Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa – the clubs close to Tottenham in the Premier League – begin to focus on European knockout clashes.

Tottenham are out of the FA Cup and have no Carabao Cup to worry about either, so Postecoglou’s squad should remain fresh for the battle to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
