Premier League club think they could have got £20m more from Tottenham for ‘amazing’ player

Everton reportedly believe they could have sold Richarlison to Tottenham for £20m more than what the Brazilian international actually went for.

The Toffees are once again in hot water with the Premier League after being charged with a second breach of the league’s profitability and sustainability rules, along with Nottingham Forest.

Having already been docked 10 points earlier this season for their previous breach, Everton are now looking at any claim possible that could get them out of their current crisis.

And according to the Evening Standard, the Goodison Park side are expected to fancifully argue with the Premier League that they could have sold Richarlison to Tottenham for £20m more.

The 26-year-old attacker joined the north London side in 2022 for a reported £60m, the second biggest transfer in Tottenham’s history.

And for Everton, simply claiming that they could have got more from Spurs for Richarlison is unlikely to go down well with the Premier League, with £60m quite the figure for the Brazilian striker.

Everton’s Richarlison claim has zero legs to stand on

Whilst the likes of Robbie Mustoe have praised Richarlison as ‘amazing’ this season, it’s hard to justify Tottenham’s £60m move for the forward was justified financially.

The former Watford star has been inconsistent for the north London side, and for Everton to argue they could have sold Richarlison for £80m is nothing short of fanciful.

Whilst there could have been a time when the attacker was worth such a fee, it’s hard to see Everton’s side on this argument, with the Toffees likely to be shot down on this particular claim.
