Sunderland are not alone in their admiration of Bolton Wanderers starlet Harry Brockbank. According to The Northern Echo, Brockbank is a target for Sunderland but he is also wanted by a number of other clubs.
The report names Burnley as one of the potential suitors. With Brockbank’s Bolton exit looking likely, Sunderland face a battle with a Premier League club for his services.
Bolton’s financial plight is forcing them to lose some of their best talents this summer. The Trotters were relegated last season and have been in all sorts of trouble off the field too.
Sunderland are hoping to poach Brockbank from Bolton’s ranks on the cheap. But they will not be the only club attempting to do so this summer.

The 20-year-old only made his senior debut last season, during a loan spell at then-National League side Salford City. But after just one outing for Salford, he returned to Bolton.
Later in the season, Brockbank made his Bolton debut. He started in the loss against Aston Villa towards the end of the season and finished the campaign with three appearances to his name.
All of his games ended in defeat for Bolton. But the young right-back is still highly-rated and tipped for a bright future. Sunderland hope to sign him this summer.
TBR’s view
It would be a real statement of intent if Sunderland could beat Burnley to Brockbank. And he is exactly the type of player Jack Ross needs.
Brockbank is a young and hungry talent with some Championship experience already under his belt. After Adam Matthews’ departure, Sunderland need a new right-back and Brockbank could fill that role for many years to come.
