Aston Villa will be excited to return to Premier League action after the international break, following their stunning win at Arsenal last time out.
While a few inconsistencies remain in the Villa ranks, it’s been a predominantly excellent start to their second season back in the top flight.
Dean Smith has got his team playing some fine attacking football, while Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings are providing a fine foundation in front of Emi Martinez at the back.

Villa’s fixtures upon the return from international football present winnable opportunities, too. Games at home to Newcastle, Brighton, and Burnley all look like potential points. While the away games at Wolves and West Ham aren’t the hardest games possible.
So, with that, just how will Villa do as we head into December? We’ve taken a look here and given our best efforts at a prediction.
Brighton – H
Villa will definitely fancy this one on home turf and it’s the ideal game really to get back into the swing of the action.
No disrespect to Brighton, but they aren’t a fixture that strikes fear into teams. Villa will go for this one and run out comfortable winners.
Predcition – Aston Villa 2 – 0 Brighton
West Ham – A
A tricky test in visiting the Hammers could go either way, in all honesty. David Moyes will set his team up to be hard to beat and then try and counter.
This one is hard to call and could be decided by a single goal. However, the Hammers might just edge it with their defensive resilience.
Prediction – West Ham 1 – 0 Aston Villa

Newcastle United – H
A game which Steve Bruce will try and stem the flow in order to prevent Grealish and Watkins getting going, Villa should still have enough to break down Newcastle.
Again, it could be a tight affair but the pace of Watkins and probing of Grealish and Barkley will ensure a narrow win for Villa.
Prediction – Aston Villa 1 – 0 Newcastle United
Wolves – A
A big local derby could end in misery for Villa with Nuno Santo’s men being one of the toughest teams in the league to break down.
They’re also excellent on the counter and in Raul Jimenez, have a striker who can worry Mings and Konsa. It is a derby, of course, but Wolves might just have too much quality and power here.
Prediction – Wolves 1 – 0 Aston Villa

Burnley – H
The home fixtures for Villa have been exceptionally kind in this run and this game will see three wins in a row at Villa Park for Smith’s side.
Burnley are stuttering and struggling along and won’t be able to deal with Villa’s attacking prowess. This should prove a comfortable afternoon and one which will see Watkins once again cause issues.
Prediction – Aston Villa 2 – 0 Burnley
