Predicted Tottenham XI to face Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur take on Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League, with Jose Mourinho eyeing a scalp against his former club to round off a great week.

Spurs advanced through to the EFL Cup last eight on Tuesday, beating Chelsea on penalties.

They then booked their place in the 2020/21 Europa League group stages after battering Maccabi Haifa 7-2.

Mourinho is sure to make changes after a busy week.

Hugo Lloris will come back in for Joe Hart, with Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez likely to be the protecting centre-halves.

Matt Doherty is established as the first-choice right-back now ahead of Serge Aurier, and Sergio Reguilon may well start on the left after a brilliant performance against Chelsea, although Ben Davies responded with a fine display of his own against Maccabi.

In midfield, Mourinho could finally unleash a midfield trident of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (£15 million, Independent), Giovani Lo Celso (£27 million, BBC Sport) and Tanguy Ndombele (£63 million, BBC Sport) – something fans are desperate to see.

All three should be fairly fresh, and there’s every chance Mourinho will turn to it for the first time.

In attack, there has been talk Heung-min Son may actually start (prompted by The Guardian’s match preview), but that might just be beyond the South Korean superstar.

Steven Bergwijn may play from the left, with Lucas Moura to the right and Harry Kane through the middle.

The Dutchman got 76 and 90 minutes against Chelsea and Maccabi respectively, but may be needed against United with Son potentially not fully fit. The Dutchman certainly has the fitness levels to answer the call to arms.
