Predicted Rangers team to play Brondby: Lundstram and £21,000-a-week player start

Rangers head to Denmark this evening to face Brondby in the Europa League and ahead of the clash we’ve assessed a predicted team that Steven Gerrard could call upon.

The Gers won 2-0 at Ibrox against the same opposition a fortnight ago and they need another win this evening.

Gerrard’s men lost their opening two games in Group A and if they have aspirations of qualifying they have to win tonight.

The Gers go into this one full of confidence. They thrashed Motherwell 6-1 at the weekend and will hope to take that form into tonight.

Ahead of tonight’s clash, we looked at how Rangers might line up this evening:

Predicted Rangers team to play Brondby:

In goal and back four

Rangers are still pretty depleted at central defence, with Filip Helander still set to miss out through injury.

With that in mind, it could be the same five players that started the game on Sunday that play tonight.

Allan McGregor will play in goal.

James Tavernier will operate at right-back, with Calvin Bassey on the opposite side of a back four.

Leon Balogun will partner Connor Goldson at the heart of the back four.

Midfield

Steven Davis and Glen Kamara have been standout players during 2021/22 and both should keep their places here.

Alongside them, there could be one change though, with Scott Arfield dropping out of the team.

John Lundstram has played in all three of the Europa League games so far and the former Sheffield United man could start tonight.

The 27-year-old has played 17 times since making the summer switch to Scotland.

Alfredo Morelos is still the main Rangers man though and he should get the nod to start in the central role.

Ianis Hagi will be fresh after being on the bench on Sunday. With that in mind, the £21,000-a-week Rangers play could line up for the Gers tonight.
